Privacy & cookies
What we collect when you use this website or contact us, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. Last updated 7 October 2026.
When you contact us
If you send an enquiry, we collect what you give us: your name, email address, and optionally your company, job title, phone number, budget or company size, timescale and message. We use it to reply, to arrange a conversation, and to keep a record of our discussions if we go on to work together.
Alongside the form we record how you found the site: the page you first landed on, the website that referred you, and any campaign tags in the link you followed (such as utm_source). This helps us understand which marketing is useful. Your browser holds this in session storage until you submit the form or close the tab; it is not used to follow you around the web.
We also record your IP address and browser type with each enquiry, to help us spot and remove spam and abuse.
Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and running our business, and, where you ask about a project, taking steps at your request before entering a contract.
The factory demo
The demo at mycompany.woerka.com gives you a private copy of a fictional factory. It is deleted after 24 hours, or a week if you keep it, along with anything you typed into it. Anyone you send its link to can open the same copy until then. The people and machines in it are made up; please keep anything you add made up too, rather than entering real personal data.
If you ask us to email you a link to your copy, we record your email address, and your name and company if you give them, as an enquiry. We use them to send you the link and may follow up once about the demo. We don't add you to a mailing list.
If you go on from the demo to our enquiry form, the form tells us you came from the demo and which modules you were interested in. It is handled like any other enquiry, above.
Website statistics
We count page views and the websites that link to us. These counts are aggregated by day and page; they contain no IP addresses, cookies, device identifiers or anything else that could identify you.
Cookies
This website does not set cookies for visitors, and uses no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. The only cookies we use are strictly necessary ones: in our private staff area, to keep authorised staff signed in securely, and in the factory demo, to keep you in your copy of it.
Who else sees your data
We don't sell or share your data for marketing. It is stored on servers run by our hosting provider in the UK or EU, and enquiry notifications and demo links pass through our email provider. Both act only on our instructions. We would only disclose data to others where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't lead to work: up to 24 months after our last contact, then deleted.
- Client and contract records: as long as needed for the work and for legal and accounting purposes (usually six years).
- Factory demo copies: deleted automatically 24 hours after you open the demo, or 7 days after you choose to keep one.
- Messages identified as spam: deleted automatically after 30 days.
- Server security logs: a short period, normally no more than 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict its use. Email [email protected] and we will respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections, stored on access-controlled servers, backed up, and available only to staff who need it, protected by strong passwords with two-factor authentication available.
